A check engine light doesn't tell you much on its own. Our Diesel Diagnostics service reads the fault codes with dealer-level scan tools for Cummins, Detroit, PACCAR, and CAT, then tests the parts the codes point at. You get a straight answer about what's wrong and a firm quote before we touch a wrench. No guessing, no parts cannon.

Engine Repair & Overhaul

When a diesel gets tired — low power, blow-by, oil use, a knock — sometimes it needs more than a sensor. Our Engine Repair & Overhaul work covers everything from a single cylinder repair to in-frame overhauls on workhorses like the Cummins ISX/X15 and Detroit DD15. We tell you what the engine actually needs and quote it before the teardown goes further.

Injector Service

A rough idle, white smoke, or a dead cylinder often traces back to a bad injector. Our Injector Service includes cylinder cutout tests to find the weak hole, injector replacement, cup and seal work, and the tune-in the ECM needs afterward. We only replace what failed — if one injector is bad, you don't automatically buy six.

Turbo Repair

Losing boost on the grade? Whistle, smoke, or oil in the intake pipe? Turbo Repair is one of the most common jobs in our shop. We check the actuator, the VGT mechanism, shaft play, and the charge air system before calling the turbo dead, because a lot of "bad turbos" are really a sensor or a leak. Quote first, then the fix.

DPF Cleaning

A plugged filter chokes power and fuel mileage, and it will land you in a derate sooner or later. Our DPF Cleaning service pulls the filter, cleans it, checks it against spec, and finds out why it plugged in the first place. Idle-heavy ag hauling around the Magic Valley loads filters with soot fast — cleaning on a schedule beats a tow.

Forced Regens & Derate Rescue

Five miles per hour on the side of I-84 is no way to run a load. Forced Regens & Derate Rescue is exactly what it sounds like: we come to the truck or take it in the bay, run the forced regen with the right software, clear the derate, and tell you what triggered it so it doesn't happen again next week. Open 7 AM to 10 PM, every day.

DEF & SCR Repair

DEF system faults cause more derates than almost anything else on a modern truck. Our DEF & SCR Repair service covers DEF pumps, injectors and dosing valves, NOx sensors, heated lines, and the SCR catalyst itself. We test the system the way the engine maker says to, so you fix the real fault instead of swapping sensors until the light goes out.

EGR Service

A stuck EGR valve or a leaking cooler can mean rough running, coolant loss, white smoke, and codes that keep coming back. EGR Service at The Semi Shop covers valve cleaning and replacement, cooler pressure testing and replacement, and the carbon cleanup that goes with it. Catching a leaking cooler early can save an engine — coolant in the cylinders is bad news.

Fuel System Repair

Hard starts, low power, air in the fuel, or a truck that died in a cold snap — that's Fuel System Repair territory. We work on lift pumps, high-pressure pumps, fuel lines, filters, and tank pickup problems, and in Idaho winters we handle gelled fuel rescue right on the shoulder of I-84.
